Maintenance Worker

Study Butte Water Supply Corporation is a rural water system located in southwest Texas near Big Bend National Park.  This is an at-will position responsible for maintenance, operation and repair of the distribution system.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts monthly meter readings.

  • Delivers Member Notices, Connects and Disconnects water services as requested by Plant or Office Manager.

  • Assists the Distribution Operator in the inspection, maintenance and repair of water mains and lines, and RO wastewater discharge system.

  • Assists the Plant Manager in the RO plant and well sites as needed.

  • Assists in installing or replacing meters; and locating and repairing leaks in water lines.

  • Assists in collecting water samples from wells and distribution system if needed.

  • Assists in flushing water lines and fire hydrants.

  • Conducts chlorine residual tests if needed.

  • Provides traffic control at work sites to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Maintains and repairs fences, utility buildings, equipment such as mowers and weed eaters, and small electronics.

  • Mows, weeds, cleans and maintains well sites and/or RO wastewater treatment plant site.

  • Operates, inspects, cleans and maintains vehicles and heavy equipment.

  • Responds to emergency service calls as required; remains on call after hours as required. May be required to work overtime with little or no notice as needed.

  • May use a SCADA system to monitor and control the distribution system and plant operation if needed.

  • May Operate a computer utilizing software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

  • Follows Employee Handbook Policies, including but not limited to: Attendance and Dress Code policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by General/Plant Manager, Office Manager or Board Members.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • TCEQ Class D Groundwater License preferred

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
